I love to read. Even though I learn
tremendously from covens, festivals, teachers, and the gods themselves,
books hold a lot of power and wisdom. Like many, my first encounter with
Paganism came through the written word and I still remember the wonder
and excitement when I read my first book on Wicca.
When I first took this path, there weren't
too many books out there. That's not the case today. With hundreds of
books published on Paganism and Witchcraft, how can you figure out which
ones are the best to read? Reading suggestions are the most common
requests I get from beginners and I often hear more experienced Pagans
and Witches express difficulty finding good material that goes beyond
the so-called 101.
In putting together this section of
Pandora's Bazaar, I hope to present you with lists of books that are
excellent for those unfamiliar with Paganism as well as more experienced
practitioners. I also hope to be able to explore lots of different areas
of interest: magic, ritual, mythology, divination, history, fiction, and
so forth.
I'm a voracious reader and love to learn,
but I come from a Wiccan background and haven't read widely on many
other Pagan paths. Since I won't recommend a book I've never read, some groups are
better represented here than others.
This is a new area in Pandora's Bazaar and
we're still working on it. So please excuse our dust and visit us again
soon.
Brightest blessings,
Cosette
